During my childhood my Mamma was used to tell me so many inspiring stories, Lord Shiva’s Story was one of them, she articulated that Lord Shiva is a dedicated person who spends down to earth life, stays on mountain without any lavishing, he drank all the poison to save the world. My Mamma said “Sincerity, Hard work and Dedication Transform a Man into a Superman/God.”

A Bangalorean Boy got name ‘Shiva’ (N. Shiv Kumar) from his parents, he was earning bread for his family for distributing News Papers early in the morning to more than 300 families, he recently cracked CAT- 2012 and get admission in IIM kolkata.

A Polite and fun loving Engineering Student and son of illiterate parents was published in the newspaper which he was selling/delivering since childhood, due his grand success achieved by hard work and sincerity . Congrats the ordinary man for extraordinary work. Lets learn from the example set by shiva.

It has been engraved in stone that the key to success is hard work and there have been several persons who have proved it time and again.

त्याग, मानव सेवा तथा उत्थान की अनोखी मिसाल - पालम कल्याणासुंदरम

पालम कल्याणासुंदरम त्याग और मानव सेवा तथा उत्थान की ऐसी मिसाल हैं, जिनकी कहानी सुनकर आंखें छलक आती हैं। कल्याणासुंदरम तमिलनाडु राज्य के थूथुकुड़ी जिले के श्रीवायकुंथम स्थित कुमाराकुरुपाड़ा कला महाविद्यालय में 35 साल तक एक लाइब्रेरियन के पद पर काम करते रहे। ये लाइब्रेरी विज्ञान में गोल्ड मेडलिस्ट हैं। इन्होंने साहित्य व इतिहास में स्नात्कोत्तर किया है। इनकी सेवा की अद्वितीय कहानी यह है कि इन्होंने अपनी जिंदगी में पूरा का पूरा वेतन दान कर दिया। गरीबों-मज़लूमों के बीच इन्होंने सेवा कार्य तो किया ही, बल्कि अपनी पूरी कमाई का एक-एक पैसा आम लोगों को दे दिया। खुद जिंदा रहने के लिए रेस्त्रां में या किसी छोटे होटल में वेटर का काम करके कम से कम पैसे कमाते थे और एक मुट्ठी चावल और बमुश्किल सांबर बना कर खा लेते थे।

कल्‍याणासुंदरम जब अपने पद से रिटायर हुए, तो इन्हें रिटायरमेंट बेनिफिट के रूप में दस लाख रुपये मिले। उन रुपयों को भी कल्याणासुंदरम ने गरीबों को दान कर दिया। उन्होंने घोषणा कर दी है कि वे अपना शरीर और आंख थिरुनेलवेली मेडिकल कॉलेज को दान करेंगे। कैंब्रिज स्थित इंटरनेशनल बायोग्राफिकल सेंटर ने कल्याणासुंदरम को दुनिया के सबसे सज्जन आदमी में से एक की श्रेणी में रखा है। इसके अलावा संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ ने उन्हें बीसवीं सदी के सर्वोत्कृष्ट लोगों की सूची में जगह दी है। अमेरिका की एक संस्था ने उन्हें “शताब्दी का पुरुष” (मैन ऑफ द मिलेनियन) चुना है।

यह कोई नयी बात नहीं है मित्रो। पिछले दो दशक से भी ज्यादा समय से दक्षिण भारत में सम्मान के प्रतीक के रूप में कल्याणासुंदरम का नाम लिया जाता रहा है। सन 2004 में प्रतिष्ठित अंग्रेजी दैनिक द हिंदू ने उनके बारे में बहुत अच्छी स्टोरी की थी। जरा सोचिए, 2004 के बाद से हमने कितने ही भ्रष्टाचारियों, चोरों, दलालों को जान लिया – पहचान लिया, लेकिन असली धरती पुत्र को कोई पहचानता है क्या? कृपया असली इंसानों को पहचानिए, भ्रष्टाचारियों का सामाजिक बहिष्कार कीजिए।

संध्या डे की मेहनत को नमन

पटना राजधानी के मीठापुर से रेलवे स्टेशन की ओर जाने वाली बेहद भीड़-भाड़ वाली सड़क के किनारे एक महिला फुटपाथ पर बैठती है। हर दिन। बीते 22 साल से यह रूटीन उस अधेड़ महिला की जिंदगी का अहम हिस्सा है। फुटपाथ पर पकौड़ी छानना और उसे बेचना।

कोलकाता से अपने माता-पिता के साथ पटना आयी इस महिला का नाम है संध्या डे। एक सरकारी स्कूल से 1978 में 11 वीं तक पढ़ाई हुई तो घर वालों ने उसी परिवार के साथ कोलकाता से नये शहर में बसे भरत डे से शादी कर दी। घर की आर्थिक हालत ठीक नहीं थी। पति के पास भी कोई काम नहीं था। सवाल रोटी का था। फिर खुद को समझाया और उसी समय सड़क किनारे बैठकर दुकान खोलने का निश्चय किया। अच्छी बात यह रही कि इस काम में पति भी हाथ बंटाते रहे। कुछ साल पहले पटना नगर निगम की एक दुकान मिल गयी। दिन में संध्या दुकान चलाती हैं और दोपहर बाद सड़क पर पकौडिय़ों के साथ बैठ जाती हैं।

इस महिला के दो बच्चे हैं। बेटा है शॉलिन दे और एक बहन। बहन की शादी हो चुकी है। शॉलिन अभी एनआईआईटी के फाइनल एग्जाम की तैयारी में है। शॉलिन को उसकी मां ने कभी अपने काम में नहीं डाला। इसकी जगह वह उसे पढऩे को प्रेरित करती रहीं। मिलर हाई स्कूल से शॉलिन ने 2004 में दसवी की परीक्षा पास की और टीपीएस कॉलेज से 12 वीं। लेकिन उसके आगे का रास्ता बंद था। शॉलिन कहता है: हमें बताने वाला कोई नहीं था कि आगे क्या करना चाहिए। पैसे भी नहीं थे। इसी उधेड़बुन में चार साल निकल गये। 2010 में मां ने कुछ पैसे जमा कर लिये थे। उससे एडमिशन हुआ। अब उसकी तैयारी एमबीए करने की है।

अंजुम आरा हिंदुस्तान की दूसरी मुस्लिम आइपीएस - बधाई

तेरे माथे पे ये आंचल बहुत ही खूब है लेकिन, तू इस आंचल से इक परचम बना लेती तो अच्छा था। मजाज लखनवी के इस शेर में जो पैगाम है, उस पर अमल कर खुद को साबित किया है अंजुम आरा ने। सहारनपुर के गंगोह में पली-बढ़ी और यहीं से ही इंटर तक की तालीम हासिल करने वाली अंजुम आरा ने देश की दूसरी मुस्लिम महिला आइपीएस बनने का गौरव हासिल किया है। इसके पहले मुंबई की रहने वाली गुजरात कैडर की सारा रिज़वी पहली मुस्लिम महिला आइपीएस बनी थीं।

मूलरूप से आजमगढ़ जिले के रहने वाले अयूब शेख, ग्रामीण अभियंत्रण सेवा विभाग में जेई हैं। 1992 से सन् 2006 तक अय्यूब की गंगोह में ही तैनाती रही। यहां से इंटर तक की पढ़ाई के बाद अंजुम ने लखनऊ के एक इंजीनियरिंग कालेज से बीटेक किया। कड़ी मेहनत के बाद उन्होंने आइपीएस-2011 बैच की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण कर अपना मुकाम हासिल किया। अंजुम आरा को हिंदुस्तान की दूसरी मुस्लिम आइपीएस बनने का गौरव प्राप्त हुआ है। अंजुम को मणिपुर का कैडर मिला है। उनके इस चयन पर उनके घर वाले काफी खुश हैं। उनका कहना है कि बेटी ने मिसाल कायमकर समाज में उनका सिर ऊंचा किया है।

 Piplantri Village in Rajasthan plants 111 Trees every time a girl is born.

In an atmosphere where every morning, our newspapers greet us with stories of girls being tormented, raped, killed or treated like a doormat in one way or another, trust India's “village republics” to bring in some good news from time to time.

One such village in southern Rajasthan's Rajsamand district is quietly practicing its own, homegrown brand of Eco-feminism and achieving spectacular results.

For the last several years, Piplantri Village Panchayat has been saving girl children and increasing the green cover in and around it at the same time.

Here, villagers plant 111 trees every time a girl is born and the community ensures these trees survive, attaining fruition as the girls grow up.

Over the last six years, people here have managed to plant over a quarter million trees on the village's grazing commons- including Neem, Sheesham, Mango, Amla among others.

On an average 60 girls are born here every year, according to the village's former Sarpanch Shri Shyam Sundar Paliwal, who was instrumental in starting this initiative in the memory of his daughter Kiran, who died a few years ago.

In about half these cases, parents are reluctant to accept the girl children, he says. Such families are identified by a village committee comprising the village school principal along with Panchayat and Anganwadi members. Rs. 21,000 is collected from the village residents and Rs.10,000 from the girl's father and this sum of Rs. 31,000 is made into a fixed deposit for the girl, with a maturity period of 20 years.

But here's the best part... “We make these parents sign an affidavit promising that they would not marry her off before the legal age, send her to school regularly and take care of the trees planted in her name,” says Mr. Paliwal.

People also plant 11 trees whenever a family member dies.

But this village of 8,000 did not just stop at planting trees and greening their commons. To prevent these trees from being infested with termite, the residents planted over two and a half million Aloevera plants around them. Now these trees, especially the Aloevera, are a source of livelihood for several residents.

“Gradually, we realized that Aloevera could be processed and marketed in a variety of ways. So we invited some experts and asked them to train our women. Now residents make and market Aloevera products like juice, gel, pickle etc,” he says.

The village Panchayat, which has a studio-recorded anthem and a website of its own, has completely banned alcohol, open grazing of animals and cutting of trees. Villagers claim there has not been any police case here for the last 7-8 years.

Shri Paliwal recalls the visit of social activist Anna Hazare, who was very happy with the progress made by the village, he says.

“But Rajasthan is quite backward in terms of village development compared to Panchayats in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra etc. So we need to work hard towards creating more and more empowered villages,” says the former Sarpanch, hoping the government listens to him.
